We stayed for a week in October, our only gripe is we wished we could have stayed longer. It is so peaceful and relaxing and the first truly dog friendly place we have ever stayed. This is a little gem....We were surprised how big it was as the photos don't do it justice. The owner is amazing and very accommodating . Lots of lovely walks nearby and the local shop and butchers were well stocked up. The Lamb and Flag is great value for money and very dog friendly and is only a short drive from the retreat. Pippa and John very welcoming. For those with dogs the paddock is great for ball throwing (as well as having beautiful mini gardens with seats all over the place), and the canal walk is wonderful. Cottage very comfortable and warm. We'll be back!

We and our dog Lola had a wonderful time at this comfortable and well equipped cottage, and many thanks to Pippa and John for being such great hosts. There are many local walks and we especially enjoyed the flat walks along the canal and the more strenuous walks up Sugar Loaf mountain, the Lonely Shepherd rock and the 4 Waterfalls. The hot tub was a welcome way to relax after our days outs, enjoying the beautiful scenery with a glass of wine. Lola loved playing ball in the secure paddock area.

Fantastic location - the view from the hot tub is stunning! We were absolutely left to our own devices and it was so peaceful and private. Its an easy drive into Abergavenny which is well worth a visit or three, a surprising number of high quality restaurants and plenty of things to do. We walked the canal tow path into Abergavenny too which is a b eautiful flat walk. A couple of friendly pubs nearby, one which serves food but nothing to write home about. Would return 100%
