Great little place to stay with a small family. Owners were friendly and helpful. Watching thee aurora from the hot tub with a glass of whisky in my hand was a lifetime highlight.
Sykes, you really need to keep your listings uptodate. The pub you mentioned has been closed for 3 years.
Absolutely lovely relaxing comfortable and amazing location felt so welcoming ... Lovely stay at preachers, clean and comfortable little cottage. hot tub was lovely. Location was good. James was helpful. Dogs loved the secure garden too
Michelle
Lovely little cottage and great hot tub. it is a little tired in places but the price reflected this and the location made up for it.
Carrie
Perfect for the peaceful, relaxing break we were looking for! Beautiful little cottage which was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Everything we needed was there and the owner was very responsive and helpful if we had any questions. Brilliant hot tub, cosy log burner, powerful shower and comfy bed. Looking forward to visiting again!
Our Christmas getaway was perfect, the cottage is cosy and comfortable with everything you need. Peaceful location with lots of natural beauty to explore. The hot tube was delightful always at the perfect temperature. Our two Dalmatians felt very at home in front of the log burner, the garden was just what was needed safe and secure. Local supermarkets only 20mins drive away to stock up on supplies. Will cant wait to make a return visit! Would definitely recommend a stay here to recharge your batteries.

It is lovely, old cottage with Baptist church behind the wall, with thick stone walls, crackling floors, and a smell of dry wood. The house was clean and cosy. We've found the bed very comfortable. The wifi signal was very good around all property. It was great to relax in the hot tub at the evening. The garden is fully enclosed, so our 2 mediumlarge dogs had plenty of space to play, and we felt safe that they wouldn't run away. Local people were very friendly. There are nice places for shorter walks along Llaethdy Brook and on steep, opposite slope of the valley, with stunning views from the top. The nearest shop and petrol station the only one in the neighbourhood is about 10 minutes away by car. We fully recommend this house for people, who like quiet, countryside holidays.
Lovely cottage everything you need perfect for a very rural and peaceful retreat
If you wish to have a quiet relaxing holiday this is the place, fantastic setting. Comfortable beds and sitting room. If you enjoy hot tubs you will love this one. Having stayed at many Sykes cottages we were rather disappointed with the quality of the property. It could be lovely but needs some TLC, especially the bathroom. If dogs are allowed the fencing at the top section of the garden needs to be more secure, our cocker would be able to get out. Garden chairs need some improving and the BBQ has seen better days.
Thank you for a wonderful stay at the cottage. It was absolutely beautiful. The cottage looks so much nicer with the sofas that have been replaced since the listing pictures were taken. The location is perfect, there is a lovely little dog walk nearby and the neighbours were all really lovely. If we had to be critical, the only improvement that could be made would be to the bathroom grout between tiles and the window frames which are beautiful but rotting We stayed during a heatwave but we can imagine the cottage would be wonderful in winter too.
The cottage was superb, just what we wanted, comfortable place to stay in a quiet secluded location. The Hot Tub was excellent, and was used every day. Walks over the hills are available straight from the property.

Lovely little cottage! Really enjoyed our stay, its a shame we weren't there for longer. Cottage has everything that is needed for your stay. Beds were comfortable, all towels provided. Hot tub was thoroughly enjoyed by us all.
Out stay here was very enjoyable, the beds in the property were comfortable with plenty of towels provided for the hot tub which was very spacious and hot! Clear instructions were given for directions and property use. Lots of leaflets available in the property for local activities! A lovely town near by which had plenty of shops and pubs to enjoy! There were a few flies that lingered however this can be expected as it is in the countryside and near some farm animals. Property owner also ensured there was fly traps in place to reduce this which helped a lot. Would definitely recommend for a nice getaway! We will be returning!
WAS DISAPOINTED IN THIS PROPERTY pictures on web site did not match furniture in cottage and garden seemed unkempt, No welcome pack no proper instructions of how things worked ,the fridge door had no inner door fittings eg for milk and butter. couldn't work out how to use tv as no instructions.looked at hot tub was realy hot ,couldn't get in if i wanted too .And unfortunately was infested with hundreds of flies up and down stairs even with the doors shut ,only stayed over night.came home early next morning. so for us we did not class this as value for money.
It was exactly as we had expected the middle of nowhere with a lovely garden and a delightful hot tub. It was especially lovely to have no phone signal!
Lovely little cottage in a fantastic location. Nice and quiet. Perfect for walks straight from the cottage. We stumbled across one which takes you over the hills with views for miles right off the doorstep! Lots of wildlife, we've never seen so many Kites! We all loved the hot tub and kids and dog loved the garden. This is one for dog owners who need an actual enclosed garden for whatever reason we have been on many holidays which says they have an 'enclosed garden' and didn't. This one does. For once our dog pottered freely! Great family holiday.

Lovely remote cottage with a hot tub that was hot was just what we needed thank ... Lovely remote cottage with a hot tub that was hot was just what we needed thank you have recommended your place to all my family and friends
We had a really lovely stay in preachers cottage, it was really well equipped and in a lovely location for exploring. We will definitely come back at some point. Im happy for my feedback to be shared but I dont want my name to be shared, thanks.
Fantastic cottage & location. Very quiet area. hot tub brilliant to relex in at end of the day. All in all was very happy with the holiday cottage.
Perfect! Just what the Dr ordered for us to have a break away from work and the city. This wee beauty cottage really was perfect. Warm, cosy, well equipped with an AMAZING hot tub. Mega powerful jets with lots of hydro massage options. Truly wonderful! Thats just the hot tub! The cottage was a real step back in time and perfectly cosy. The area is also remarkable with great sights to see such as amazing waterfalls, Damns and reservoirs I think this area is my new fave place in wales. We thought it was a bit of a trek from where we live but we was ignorant as the drive into wales through the hills and valleys is stunning and part of the trip! This now tops Devon and Cornwall by a long shot on the beauty scale! The owners are also lovely people and very accommodating should you need anything but also they are not to be seen so you have total privacy
Preachers Cottage has a similar atmosphere to the cottage in the film The Holiday same sort of cosy little old cottage with thick walls in a really quiet area just what we wanted for Christmas. Lovely walks from the doorstep, then back for brunch where we chattered together in the kitchen while preparing meals, then chilled in the secluded hot tub be it in rain or sleet it was warm. Lovely cosy lounge with a wood burner, gloriously hot shower with instantaneous very hot water, and stunning view from the bedroom window where I could just sit and stare out at the surrounding area. In fact, everything about Preachers Cottage is warm. Most importantly, we encountered a problem on the first night, spoke to James in the morning and despite it being two days before Christmas and requiring a lot of time and effort, James sorted it the very same day certainly made us feel that he cared about our comfort. Thank you James and family.

This is our second visit to the cottage this year, first trip in June for a quiet weekend to celebrate a birthday and this time for a full week to enjoy a festive family retreat tucked away in the Valleys! On arrival the cottage was spotless, lovely and warm & the fire had been lit with plenty of additional fire wood and everything you would need to attend to the fire extra wood also available in the shed if needed. Lovely walks on the doorstep with the dog and perfect for tiring out our busy 3 year old with scenic river walks and farm animals to spot along the way. Despite the 2 weather the cottage was toasty our entire stay and views were utterly picturesque coated in a layer of frost early mornings. We made some really special Christmas memories this week, with a scenic drive out to Aberystwyth for a frosty walk on the beach and a festive visit to Powis Castle to enjoy the magic under the twinkle of the lights, roaming reindeer and mulled wine in the courtyard both places were really easy to get to from the cottage but what a treat it was to return to the log fire, put a film on and enjoy giant hot chocolates tucked away from the world! As far as the facilities go there was nothing we were short of, a really comfortable stay if you embrace the cottage and all it has to give. The owners, like our last visit were really helpful and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and feel really approachable if you do need anything at all. There's no doubt about it this lovely little cottage has stolen a place in our hearts and is our perfect retreat away from the busy way of life we are used to in the Midlands.
Had a lovely stay at Preacher's Cottage. The food platter was very much appreciated. Location is excellent to explore mid wales.
We had a lovely few days at Preachers cottage, it was very cosy and fully equipped the hot tub was lovely, the only issues we had was the toilet didnt stop flushing, the shower dripped constantly. The steps down to the cottage were very slippery and covered in leaves, we slipped several times between us all. May be a handrail would improve the situation. Also may be some lights around the hot tub would be useful for the autumnwinter months because you couldnt use it after dark. We were also disappointed about the check out time of 9am, we only found this out when we had arrived, Its states on the Skyes cottages website 3pm check in and 10am check out. Apart from that we had a great time and would definitely stay again. X

Perfect stay in Wales for my wife and I for our 3rd year wedding anniversary. We took our dogs with us and although the garden isn't technically securely enclosed, ours didn't escape. A wee small dog or overly inquisitive dog will definitely find its way out. The cottage is cute as pie, great, quiet location, within easy driving distance of lots of places to explore. The hot tub was perfect and what sealed the deal when we were looking for somewhere to stay. Thank you for having us, we hope to be back again next year
Michaela
Generally very nice and quiet area, cottage very cosy. Couple of things need more attention there up stairs bed room light doesn't work, double bed mattress need replacement bad condition, grill outside very old and rusty We been very happy with jacuzzi good privacy!! Neighbour next door lovely lady she give us great advice for dog walk public footpath.
Lovely little cottage in a quiet small group of houses. Many thanks to the owner for the platter of food. After a long journey much appreciated. Good centre for exploring mid Wales, also within an hours drive of Brecon, Snowdonia, and also the coast.
Rosemary
The property is beautiful and a great place as a base to access the beautiful landscape of Wales. We were welcomed with a spectacular platter of food which we very much appreciated. The weather was amazing, we were so lucky! A wonderful holiday had by all and lovely memories made. Thank you x
Lovely quiet location, with an enclosed garden great for your friendly pet. The hot tub was a welcome feature at the end of a long walking day. Ideal location for exploring the Elan Valley & Mid Wales.
We found our cottage very easy. I found the cottage very comfortable and very clean. I totally recommend it.
A much needed break away for a few days and it didnt disappoint. Beautiful peaceful location and to come back to the hot tub was perfect. We will be back. Thank you Lynda and Andy
We loved Preacher's Cottage, it was cosy, the beds and new sofas were very comfortable and James was friendly and helpful. We were greeted with a tasty savoury welcome platter, which was much appreciated after our late arrival. The outdoor space was lovely and we were able to enjoy breakfast on the garden bench in the sun. My personal cottage highlight watching the bats flying in and out of the roof space at dusk from the comfort of the hot tub! Magic
We had a lovely time, couldnt fault it. We are looking forward to going back soon! Thank you
A super little hide away, suitable for a couple on their own or with a couple of children.

Preachers cottage was a pleasure to stay in, easy to find. Excellent contact with owner who went out of his way to make sure we had what we needed. Welcome platter was a lovely touch. Cottage was comfortable and well furnished. Would highly recommend. Enjoyed the hot tub. Lovely rural setting, with walks from the door, and forestry walks a few minutes away. Eggs that were supplied by the lovely neighbouring small holder were delicious. Will definitely rebook and recommend.
The cottage is cosy, it is very peacful and quiet in the area surrounded by lovely and very helpful neighbours. The living room has a large and a small sofa including a small tv and a fireplace. The hot tub is accessible and easy to operate. The owners very helpful. Definitely recommend it!
Lovely little cottage, very quiet area, absolutely perfect for a little getaway with my 9 week old baby, labradoodle and wife. Hot tub was great, cottage facilities were much better than a typical holiday home, plus it was like having all of the stuff you have in your own kitchen which was great for cooking! James the owner was very friendly when he popped by to check everything was fine. Would highly recommend a weekend in this beautiful part of the country. Be careful, you might just start looking at the local property market!
